(Senior) Applied AI/ML Engineer (f/m/d)

Our consulting work does not end with a decision paper. It ends with a solution running in production at the client. That shifts the centre of gravity in a project: the people who build are not at the end of the chain, they are at the table from day one.

That is exactly why we are looking for you. You are an engineer, you stay hands-on, and you take AI applications into real operation: LLM use cases, RAG systems, agentic workflows, computer vision, full-stack chatbots, MLOps. From the first use case workshop to deployment.

And you work AI-native. Our own delivery runs on AI-supported methods and tools that we build ourselves. You will not just use them, you will help build them.

• Build and deploy: You independently create AI-driven applications, including backend code, and take them to production. Not prototypes that stay in a notebook, but systems with real users.
• Breadth over niche: Your projects range from LLM use cases to computer vision, full-stack chatbot development and Machine Learning Operations. You will not spend twelve months fine-tuning the same model.
• Research and product development: You work on initiatives with AI components such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation or agentic AI, for clients and for our own products.
• Trustworthy AI: You own evaluation, guardrailing and trustworthy AI. You know how to demonstrate that a system does what it is supposed to do, and what happens when it does not.
• Shape the use cases: You are part of the discussions where use cases get identified and assessed, internally and externally, and you architect solutions that fit the business requirements.
• Close to AI Strategy: You work hand in hand with the AI Strategy department, assess feasibility early and keep expectations realistic before they end up in a roadmap.
• Work AI-native: You help shape how Perelyn develops, tests and delivers as an AI-native consultancy. That is real influence, not tool adoption.

Basic Qualification:

• Hands-on AI experience: Proven experience leveraging various AI/ML models and the ability to implement business-driven Generative AI solutions using frameworks such as LangChain, Haystack or LlamaIndex. What counts is that the things you built actually went live.
• Software engineering: Strong Python skills, confident with Docker, experienced in building and consuming REST APIs, and a solid understanding of cloud deployment and cloud-native services. Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, R or Java is a plus. You write code other people can maintain.
• Working with data: Knowledge of data transformation, cleaning, preparation and model selection. Experience evaluating large datasets as well as data structuring and storage modeling is an advantage.
• Client-facing: You explain technical concepts in a way business and leadership audiences can act on, and you represent us confidently and professionally with clients. If you would rather build away from the client entirely, this role will not make you happy.
• Languages: German at C1 level and fluent English are required for this role.
• Attitude: Hands-on mentality, ownership of your own outcome, openness to constructive feedback, and the willingness to find answers to questions that do not have any yet.

Preferred Qualification

• Advanced ML and deep learning methods with Scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow, ideally with a background in statistics and model evaluation
• Familiarity with computer vision technologies
• Experience with MLOps frameworks such as MLflow
• Integrating LLMs with graph databases such as Neo4j
• Experience with AI-augmented coding technologies such as Claude Code or Gemini CLI
• Basic understanding of frontend technologies, React or Angular advantageous
